CVU COVID-19 Video Announcement

Hello, I am Raymond Ford the Executive Director of Central Virginia United Soccer. Our CVU staff and board members hope you are all safe and healthy during these uncertain times. We understand that it is a stressful time for many of our families - both emotionally and financially. With the Stay at Home order still in place until June 10th, CVU is cancelling the majority of it's Spring 2020 season. I encourage you all to keep to the guidelines with social distancing as I have heard of the dire consequences of the disease in my homeland of Britain and other European countries.

CVU has worked hard to improve all areas of the club from offering more programs to having the best facilities and coaches we can provide. We are sure you all have a lot of questions about your specific program and we will follow up this video with more detailed emails in the near future.

I’d like to share some background with you all about our CVU. I have been part of this club for just over 2 years and my wife and family have really enjoyed moving to this beautiful location.

The Club has been operating since 1977 - offering soccer opportunities and serving counteless players in our community. When I took over as Director, we had a massive mortgage and, at that time, a very high line of credit.

Before a ball is ever kicked at the complex, the club pays for league registration, player insurance, and administration fees. In addition to seasonal and program expenses, we have our ongoing operating costs including our utilities, taxes, and staff. The CVU complex itself is our biggest debit, but also our biggest asset.

CVU is a non-profit organization. We are currently made up of 3 full time staff members, many seasonal coaches, referees, trainers, and numerous volunteers. Our Club would not be able to operate without our soccer families and those who volunteer their time for work days and other CVU events.

Since last month, Coach Cory and myself have reduced our wages to help ease the financial burden the club currently faces. We are doing all that we can to make the best decisions for our club and our families while ensuring that CVU is able to continue operating and offering programs in the future. We hope to see our complex and fields full of players and parents again very soon.

The following options are available for each of these CVU programs:

Soccer Sisters have new dates for the Summer.

We hope to run a similar U6 & U8 rec league this summer. For those who choose not to participate in the Summer, families have the option of an account credit of 75% of your paid Spring Rec fees to go towards the Fall Recreation season.

U10 & U12 rec have the option of participating in a CVU Summer camp or a 75% credit for the Fall season -  if we have teams available for you to play on.

We would like to offer Futures a full credit of $150 to go towards either a summer camp or Futures in the Fall.

Academy briefly started their season, therefore we can offer you 75% credit for the Fall season -  be it for our Academy Program or Travel soccer. Academy players can catch up their skills with 2 camps throughout the summer instead.

With Travel soccer, the CCL is finalizing a modified league schedule targeting play in June and possibly July. It can be adjusted earlier if current restrictions are lifted. Please know that the CCL will be ready to adapt and provide future competition at a moment's notice.

As a non-profit organization, we would like to ask each of our families to consider donating their account credit back to the club so that we are able to pay our bills and keep the club operational. Your donation would be considered tax deductible. My hope is that the club can bounce back stronger than ever before once we are through this period of uncertainty.

We encourage all of our members to please continue to follow the guidelines on social distancing and try to stay at home as much as you can. The sooner things start getting back to normal, the quicker we can get back to our kids enjoying games and parents cheering from the sidelines.

Thank you for listening to this message from CVU Soccer. More details will follow via emails and on our website at
